In God We Trust
“In God We Trust.” It says it right on the dollar bill.
But what about those times in our lives when we desperately need answers and can’t find them? Or when we are scared to do what we think God is calling us to do? When all we want to do is scream, “Why, God?”
When we trust God with all our heart, He will reveal answers, provide hope, and help us understand the why.
Just trust God.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NLT)
I have been doing a lot of trusting God for the last two years. I felt him telling me that I needed to forgive my parents for the pain they caused me. I was confused and angry at first, but the more I trusted God and followed what I felt he was speaking to my heart, the clearer His message became. By forgiving my parents, I was able to achieve a sense of freedom that I had never felt.
I am still amazed by my own obedience, as just six months after I forgave my parents, my father died. As I was dealing with the emotions that followed, I felt God speaking to me again. He told me that I needed to share my story to help others. I tried to ignore the nagging idea and God kept bringing me back to it. I began asking why….why would He want me to share my painful past that I had kept secret for so many years? As I began writing, I struggled as I was forced to relive my past.
I wondered if anyone would care.
I was scared to tell anyone what I was doing for fear of being judged.
When we are scared or unsure of the path to take….
“Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.” Isaiah 41:9 (MSG)
As I thought about this verse, I found myself wondering…
How many times do we try to set our own agendas and fail because we didn’t trust God when it seemed too hard, scary, or uncomfortable? [tweetthis]What if we just trust God with everything? [/tweetthis]Our money, relationships, family, jobs…..God wants us to follow Him and trust Him with everything we have.
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (MSG)
So when I feel God telling me to step outside of my comfort zone, I remember what is printed on the dollar bill…

Thank you for the reminder to Trust. I giggled when you wrote that you know nothing about Periscope. I have that on my “to learn” list also. I will pray for you as our great Abba continues to use to bless others.
Today I participated in my friends periscope. We were in a cool coffee shop in an out of the way nook. A couple of ladies heard us and introduced themselves afterwards. This initiated a great conversation and an amazing God appointment. That was super cool!
