There are moments, certain places and times, when God chooses to reveal himself, to unfold a future and a hope. God initiates this dream because He wills to do so, not because Jacob did the right thing.
There is a time in every child’s life that is of strategic importance in the direction they will choose. As a parent, I pray that all of our children will come to a certain place marked by God for revelation and transformation.
When things are in sync in my life, everything seems to roll along smoothly. Disrupted summer schedules make an easy excuse to skip time to nourish my soul. One day blends into the next day filled with things to do, people to see, and places to go. “Tomorrow, Lord, I’ll get to it tomorrow…”
Some things don’t come easy. And some prayers aren’t answered quickly. She looks out the window as the rain comes down in sheets. Is God listening? she wonders as she struggles to believe God will answer. If she had a dollar for each prayer she has prayed for this difficult situation, she’d be a wealthy woman by now.
The world of a child is small–the neighborhood is the size of a universe. Somehow, the world expands and the challenges facing our children change. As each year passes, adulthood calls and the future opens. Together, let’s pray them forward into tomorrow, laying a foundation of faith that their steps may be firm.
